Rare and selected Littlemill Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Littlemill distillery was built at the Scottish Lowlands in Bowling on the premises of a former brewery from the 14th century between Glasgow and Dumbarton. Littlemill itself was founded in 1772, making it probably the oldest distillery in Scotland, unofficially even going from a whisky production since at least 1750. The first deeds date back to 1817. The distillery was Hector Henderson, who in 1846 founded Caol Ila, built together. A complete overhaul was 1875 William Hay instead. Then there have been countless changes of ownership. 1988 ended up at Littlemill Gibson International, the style laid the distillery in 1992nd as this 1994 went bankrupt, the distillery came along with Glen Scotia Glen Catrine Bonded Warehouse, however, production was not resumed. 1996 line was dismantled in parts. The license is the Littlemill Distillery Co. The water belonging to the region Lowlands distillery came from the Auchentorlie Burn in the Kilpatrick Hills, which already belong to the Highlands. The system consisted of a five tons capacity mash tun, a fermenter and a wash still, each 25,000 liters. The spirit still took 18,000 liters. Both stills were fired with steam. The annual production was in good times at 800,000 liters. Between 1875 and 1930, triple distilled, which was typical of the Lowlands. 4 September 2004 large parts of the distillery were destroyed irreparably by a fire and the remains fell in May 2006 together. Littlemill now belongs to the closed Distilleries and the few existing original bottlings are therefore rarely found.
