This rare and magnificent Vintage 1979 32 year old Port Ellen 12th Special Release Limited Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is at 32 years old one of the oldest official bottlings from the closed distillery Port Ellen. The exclusive Port Ellen Islay Malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 1979 and, after its maturation in American oak and European oak casks, was bottled by Diageo in the year 2012 in a limited edition of just 2.964 bottles without the addition of colouring and chill filtration at cask strength 52.5% vol.
Complex and slightly sweeter than the younger bottlings of Port Ellen, it is wonderfully clean and fresh for its age. The nose develops delicate, dense and fragrant smoke with sugary, juicy orange, honey and cereal notes. Full-bodied and complex with a rich, fruity sweetness, smooth dark chocolate and more exquisite smoke that lingers aromatically on the compact and silky-smooth finish.
