This rare Vintage 1978 27 year old Port Ellen 6th Special Release Limited Edition Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is one with 27 years one of the oldest official bottlings of Port Ellen. The Port Ellen Islay Single Malt Scotch was distilled in 1978 and, after being matured in American oak and European oak casks, was bottled by Diageo in the year 2006 in an edition of only 4.560 individually numbered bottles without the addition of colourants and chill-filtration at natural cask strength 54.2% vol.
Complex on the nose, it is slightly phenolic and salty, lemon and apple, some melon and light sherry with a grassy note, accompanied by delicate, dense and fragrant smoke. The flavour is full-bodied and complex with salty, spicy notes of nutmeg, pepper and honey accompanied by exquisite smoke.

- Nose: slightly phenolic and briny. Vanilla, lemon and a biscuit-like element bring distinctly sweet flavours, smoke is at the back
- Palate: oily, slightly coastal and salty, spicy hints (nutmeg and pepper) and honey. Hints of seafood complete the palate.
- Finish: very long and really warming, smoke and pepper are mingling with vanilla and seafood notes
