Bruichladdich 1984 19 Years American Oak Cask No. 12 Valinch The Opening of The Harvey Bottling Hall Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cask Strength 53.3% Vol. - one of only 575 bottles of a unique Islay Single Malt!
This rare and special vintage 1984 19 year old Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled on 5th February 1984 and, after maturing for over 19 years in an American oak cask with cask no. 12, was bottled in an edition of only 525 individually hand-numbered bottles from June to August 2003 with no added colouring or chill-filtration at cask strength 53.3% vol. to celebrate the opening of the Harvey Bottling Hall on 25 May 2003. The fine Bruichladdich Isaly Single Malt Scotch Whisky was only available at the distillery s on-site visitor centre and each bottle was hand-signed with the date of visit, bottle number and personally signed by master distiller Jim McEwan.
A valinch, possibly from a Spanish term, is the name applied to a large, copper pipette used to take cask samples from whisky barrels. The view is if you have made the effort to get to Islay then you deserve something just a little extra special. Valinchs are by definition only ever at cask strength, from a single barrel, and selected by Jim McEwan for individuality. Each Valinch released has it s own label and title, usually to commemorate a specific event or person.
A rare bottling of a great Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt, which impressively shows the maturation in the American oak bourbon cask as well as the character of the Islay distillery Bruichladdich and was still selected and bottled by the whisky legend Jim McEwan.
An extraordinary Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which demonstrates the cask art of Jim McEwan in an expressive way and a special highlight for connoisseurs, the demanding whisky collector and lovers of fine old Scotch Whiskies.
