This rare vintage 1997 16 year old Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky was bottled exclusively for Feis Ile 2013 as a 1st edition hand-filled limited edition from a 1st fill sherry butt with the cask no. 23 from the Bowmore no. 1 vaults at cask strength 55.5% vol. in an edition of only 600 bottles and was not officially available elsewhere in the trade.
Every part of the whisky was finished by hand and distilled in 1997: the barley was malted, hand turned and tradionally peat kiln dried at the distillery. After distillation, the spirit spent more than 16 years slowly maturing in a 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt before finally for a small number of visitors to the Feis Ile 2013 could be filled by hand from the barrel. This is a Bowmore in its natural form, of the barley, and its maturation in the bottle. A Bowmore Islay whisky with great body that is reminiscent of old times and can compete with the legendary bottlings from the 1960s and 1970s or a Seadragon. Due to its low circulation of this special and delicious Bowmore rarely found and is one of the sought-after bottlings among connoisseurs and collectors. Each bottle also comes with its own bag and certificate of authenticity.
