A rare bottling of the multi-award-winning 21-year-old Suntory Hibiki blended whisky with the new finish and Japan back label, imported in 2017 by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd.
Whisky is an essential part of Japanese drinking culture. The statement may come as a surprise, but it is easy to justify historically. Mr Torii, founder of the Suntory company, began producing whisky as early as 1924. The founder of Suntory, Shinjiro Torii, opened his first shop, Torii Shoten, which sold imported wines, in Osaka in February 1899. In 1924, he also began producing single malt whisky. It was during this time that the name Suntory was first used as a brand name. Today s distillery is located near Kyoto, a region with a varied climate and high humidity. When he built Japan s first distillery in the Yamazaki valley outside Kyoto, he could not have imagined in his wildest dreams what a promising future this whisky series would have. In 1929, he presented his first distillate under the name Shirofuda. Suntory Hibiki is one of the world s premium blends. Hibiki, which means harmony in Japanese, is a master blend of rare and carefully selected malt whiskies that are at least 21 years old, part of the blend matured in casks made from the very rare Japanese Mizunara oak. The key malt comes from the famous Yamazaki sherry casks, blended with mellow grain malts. The result is stunning, with a sweet aroma of dried fruit, a spicy aroma and flavour, soft and creamy on the palate, with a rich, refined bouquet and a long finish with deep flavours.

The 21 Years Suntory Hibiki Premium Blended Whisky has won several awards, including the World Whisky Award in 2010, 2011 and 2013, and has received multiple honours from the International Wine and Spirits Competition. The 24 facets of the bottle symbolise the 24 seasons, which are known from the ancient tradition of Sekki, the old Japanese calendar.
