The first bottling of the stunning vintage 1985 21 year old Lagavulin Islay Malt Scotch whisky is now one of the most sought-after old Lagavulin bottlings on the whisky market and is rarely found at the special auctions of Bonhams, Krüger or Christies. The fine Lagavulin Islay single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 1985, matured for 21 years in selected Spanish European sherry oak casks and bottled as a special release in 2007.
A total of 6,642 individually numbered bottles of this exceptional Lagavulin Islay single malt Scotch whisky were bottled at cask strength at 56.5% vol. The nose reveals sweet sherry notes, spices, fruit, peat, pepper and, of course, smoky and maritime notes. On the palate it is full of notes of peat with pungent smoke, herbs with woody notes, toffee with arak, liquorice and spices. The finish is very long and full of coastal and phenolic notes.
