Nikka Miyagikyo 15 Years Japanese Single Malt Whisky 45.0% Vol. - one of the last bottlings with age indication from the famous Nikka Miyagikyo distillery!
A rare 15-year-old Nikka Miyagikyo Japan Single Malt Whisky from the distillery founded in 1952 by Masataka Taketsuru in Hokkaido. Today, as a subsidiary of Asahi Brewing, Nikka is the second largest whisky producer in Japan. Taketsuru, whose family has had its own sake distillery in Japan since 1733, emigrated to Scotland in 1918 to study chemistry at Glasgow University. During his studies, he worked there in a nearby whiskey distillery, among other things. The young student was so fascinated by the art of whiskey distilling that he decided to export it to his native Japan to make his fortune, and he succeeded. Taketsuru created his first own brand in 1940 and, after winning several awards, finally made his big breakthrough in the 1960s. The 15-year-old Nikka Miyagikyo Japan Single Malt Whisky is now an insider s tip among connoisseurs; anyone who has tasted it once will not want to miss it again. The Japanese single malt from the Miyagikyo distillery in the north of Honshu benefits from its 15-year maturation in exquisite oak and sherry casks. It makes it complex and at the same time harmonious and it is a fine, almost admirable Japan single malt that was once rated 92 points by Jim Murray. The Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt has been matured for 15 years and has experienced a finish in casks that formerly matured sherry. The 15 Years Nikka Miyagikyo Japanese Malt Whisky is light and pure, with subtle floral sophistication, aromas of fennel, nuts and pine.
An elegant, complex 15 years Nikka Miyagikyo Japan Single Malt Whisky with a medium body and silky mouthfeel, fruity aspects and balanced oak tones, and a particularly smooth taste due to the 15 years of maturation. The classic Japanese art of creating both a clear and precise aroma and great intensity is on display here - this single malt bottling shows Miyagikyo s velvety smooth style at its best.
