Nikka Taketsuru 17 Years Pure Malt Blended Whisky Japan Import 43.0% ABV - one of World s Best Blended Malt Whisky!
The multi-award-winning 17-year-old Nikka Taketsuru Japan Pure Malt Blended Whisky 43.0% vol. as a Japanese import in the old version with the large gift box. Founded in 1952 by Masataka Taketsuru in Hokkaido, Nikka is now a subsidiary of Asahi Brewing and the second largest whiskey producer in Japan. Taketsuru, whose family has run its own sake distillery in Japan since 1733, emigrated to Scotland in 1918 to study chemistry at the University of Glasgow. During his studies, he worked in a nearby whiskey distillery. The art of distilling whiskey fascinated the young student so much that he decided to export it to his native Japan to make his fortune, and he was successful. Taketsuru created his first own brand in 1940 and finally made his big breakthrough in the 1960s after winning several awards. The Nikka whisky is characterised by its fruity character and balanced taste with a long finish. For its production, the master distiller combined outstanding whiskies from the Nikka Group distilleries to create a creation with a stunningly complex flavour. With the 17 years Taketsuru Japanese Pure Malt Whisky from Nikka, you are treating yourself to one of the special whiskies named after Masaka Taketsuru, which are synonymous with exceptional taste. The Japanese Taketsuru blended malt whisky has matured for 17 years and shows its complex, sophisticated side. The Nikka Taketsuru 17 Years Pure Malt is a marriage of Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts, a high proportion of which was allowed to mature in selected sherry casks. This gives the Taketsuru blended malt its depth and a wealth of flavours - an absolutely premium Japanese whisky from Nikka for connoisseurs, whisky collectors and enthusiasts, which won several gold awards at the World Whiskies Awards in 2012, 2014 and 2015 and was named World s Best Blended Malt Whisky, making it the pinnacle of blended malt whiskies.
