The multi-award-winning 10 years-old Nikka Yoichi Japan Single Malt Whisky comes from the famous Yoichi distillery near Sapporo in Japan, a place made famous by winter sports, and is rarely found today.
In 2001 a previous version of Yoichi old was elected best of best by Whisky Magazine, bringing international attention at Japan. In 2008, Whisky Magazine again chose it as the worlds best whisky. The single malt from a vatting of whisky aged in bourbon barrels, new oak barrels and sherry barrels, all reworked at the distillery. This single malt whisky from the Yoichi distillery, stored and matured for 10 years or more, is characterized by a festive nose reminiscent of fruit and a smooth, velvety palate. A ten year old, elegantly peaty single malt from Nikka s beautiful Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, where whisky is made as it used to be in Scotland with small direct-fired stills and matured in the finest wood the company can find. Bottled at 45% for extra oomph. On the face of it, this is expensive for a ten year old whisky, but it s well worth the money in quality terms. One batch of this received 93 points in the Jim Murray Whisky Bible and one of the best Japanese whiskies.

- Nose: firm. Marked by burnt wood and spices (pepper). Fruity (apple, apricot) on a malt barley, fresh menthol base
