Prichards 9 Years Double Barreled Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey 45.0% Vol. - a very special Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey!
This special 9-year-old Prichards Double Barreled Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a speciality in the distillery's portfolio, as it is probably the only whiskey in the world that, after an initial maturation at cask strength, is reduced to approx. 48% vol. and then filled again into an oak barrel for further maturation. The great bourbon whiskey is created using a unique, labor intensive process. Bourbon is generally barreled at a relatively high 125 proof. However, the final bottle proof may be as low as 80. This bourbon is taken from 120 proof to 95 proof and re-barreled in new charred oak barrels to reinforce the barrel notes that bourbon is so famous for. To our knowledge there is no other distillery that utilizes this process. Benjamin Prichard's Double Barreled Bourbon is truly special and has captured the attention of our customers who are virtually demanding that we produce more of this remarkable bourbon.
Jim Murray 2009 Whiskey Bible provides the following: A classy effortless delivery. The corn-rye integration oozes sophistication and the vanilla-themed oak offers the perfect background. Immediate bitter sweet character celebrates both a raisin-fruity juiciness and a much firmer, burned-honeycombed middle; complex, classy and challenging; thuddingly firm with limited yield. Spices from the rye try to probe the wall but this is the metalled hoof a Kentucky thoroughbred; a very different bourbon that ticks the boxes as they should but throws in a few curve balls for the palate to negotiate.
