The one and only New Orleans original - the 6 years old Sazerac Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey symbolizes the tradition and history of New Orleans. Rye Whiskey that dates back to the 1800's, around the time when saloons, veiled as Coffee Houses, began lining the streets of New Orleans. It was at the Sazerac Coffee House on Royal Street where local patrons were served toddies made with Rye Whiskey and Peychaud's Bitters. The libation became known as the Sazerac and Americas first branded cocktail was born. This is the whiskey that started it all. The 6 years odl Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey is rumored to be made from a mash of 51% rye, 39% corn and 10% malted barley. Following distillation, the whiskey is aged for a minimum of six years in the Kentucky heat, before a small batch of barrels are married together. The great Rye whiskey has a copper-bronze color, along with light aromas include vanilla and a touch of juicy citrus. Flavors run to bitter orange, dark chocolate and black tea, finishing with a pepper tingle. Velvety feel, despite the brisk alcohol. The Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey earned a score of 94.5 points from Jim Murrays Whisky Bible, and a score of 95 points from Wine Enthusiast, which called it a best buy. In addition, it earned the best American Rye Whiskey award at the Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition, and the Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
