A rare 25 year old Strathisla Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled around 2009 in a limited edition at 43.0% vol. and the classic distillery label by Gordon and MacPhail. For this, selected casks were bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. For the fine Strathisla Speyside Single Malt, almost exclusively 1st fill sherry casks were used for the many years of maturation.
The independent bottler Gordon and MacPhail bottled the single malts for many distilleries decades ago and has a large stock of old vintage whiskies as well as many rarities. Each distillery was given an individual label, which was often considered the original bottling because no other bottlings existed and Gordon and MacPhail bottled this Strathisla under licence, hence the old original label on the bottle.
A wonderful 25 year old Strathisla Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the oldest Highland Malt distillery in Scotland and rare piece of whisky history for connoisseurs, the discerning whisky collector and lovers of exclusive old Scotch whiskies.
- Nose: quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of dark sugars and aged rums, brandy steeped fruitcake, orange juice and the marmalade made thereof with a resinous note.
- Palate: quite full and thick. There perfumy notes with juicy fruit and smoked meats. Hints of rubber and tarry ropes with dry, chewy oak with pepper.
- Finish: long and oaked with a degree of warmth
