William Larue Weller 2001 Fall of 2013 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 68.1% Vol. - the award-winning whiskey legend from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection and Bourbon of the Year 2013 - only 3.468 bottles!
A great uncut and unfiltered vintage 2001 over 12 years old William Larue Weller Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey with 68.1% Vol. and the 9th release from 2013 of the legendary Buffalo Trace Antique Collection - an outstanding bourbon by William Larue Weller with a particularly nice dark amber colour and bourbon of the year 2013. Among connoisseurs, this Bourbon Whiskey is considered to be absolutely first-class and is one of the most sought-after Bourbon Whiskeys. At the age of over 12 years, this Bourbon is also one of the oldest bottlings from the William Larue Weller Antique Collection and is regarded as a particularly exceptional rarity - almost not to be found anywhere in the world today.
Born in 1825, William Larue Weller was one of the early distilling pioneers in Kentucky. After serving in the Louisville Brigade during the 1840s, William Larue Weller remained in Louisville and continued his family heritage of whiskey distilling. Mr. Weller was famous for being the firts distiller to produce Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey using wheat instead of rye in the mash bill. As the most distinguished distiller of this time, William Larue Weller spent many years educating consumers about the different styles of bourbon, and the special flavous that wheat imparted to his whiskey. The William Larue Weller line has always been a bit special among Buffalo Trace s offerings. Weller himself is often credited as the bottler who invented wheated bourbon, so it is appropriate that Weller is Buffalo Trace s signature wheated line. Add to that the notoriety Weller bourbons received last year when first Esquire and then numerous copycats declared it the accessible substitute for the elusive Pappy Van Winkle whiskeys, notoriety that caused a run on the liquor stores and a short-term shortage. If you follow that logic, that should make the Antique Collection s William Larue Weller the closest thing you can get to Pappy Van Winkle. The William Larue Weller limited edition 2013 is an extra special installment. After spending 12 years and one month on the 3rd and 4th floors of Warehouses M and P, this whiskey was bottled uncut and unfiltered at a staggering 136.2 proof (68.1% abv).
A outstanding and extremely rare over 12 years old uncut and unfiltered William Larue Weller bourbon whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, one of the highest rated American whiskeys, almost ingenious and an extraordinary extremely rare handmade bourbon whiskey for connoisseurs, the discerning whiskey collector and lovers of exclusive bourbon whiskeys!

- Nose: loads of caramel, cinnamon, toffee, and soft cocoa. There is also a nice, sweet pipe tobacco and some ripe banana and fig.
- Palate: great layers of dark, chewy caramel, butterscotch, thick honey and vanilla cream lead the front palate. Dark fruits, some pear, a soft cinnamon.
- Finish: Super long, very dry, and just as deep as the sip. The pipe tobacco, baking spice and a rich candied pecan note linger long after the sip right along side the warm tingle from the high proof.
