A very rare vintage 1975 18 years-old Ardbeg Islay single malt scotch whisky 46.0% vol. from the Duthie s Selection by R. W. Duthie and Co. with a illustration of the Ardbeg distillery on the label, distilled in 1975 and bottled after 18 years of maturation in the year 1993 in limited edition.
The distillery Ardbeg is considered worldwide as one of the cult distilleries of Islay and shows a perfect example of the typical heavily peated single malt from the island. For dedicated Ardbeg lovers and whiskey collectors, however, the bottlings from the 1970s are the epitome of the golden era of Ardbeg , many of the old bottlings from this decade show the original Ardbeg character in a particularly impressive way and are now considered legendary.
From 1983 to 1993, R. W. Duthie, which is a subsidiary company of Wm. Cadenhaed, which handled the majority of the physical bottling operations for the company, made special single malts from selected distilleries such as Ardbeg, Ardmore, Aultmore, Balblair, Balmenach, Balvenie, Bladnoch, Blair Athol, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Caol Ila, Clynelish, Craigellachie, Dalmore, Deanston, Glen Garioch, Glen Grant, Glen Moray, Glen Ord, Glenfarclas, Glenkinchie, Glenlivet, Glenugie, Highland Park, Imperial, Isle of Jura, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Linkwood, Longmorn, Longrow, Macallan, Mortlach, Port Ellen, Rosebank, Scapa, Springbank, Strathisla, Talisker, Tamdhu, Tamnavulin, Tomatin and Tormore presented in limited editions. In addition to this, they also provided casks to a number of international distributors, including the sought after portfolios of the Corti Brothers in the US, and early bottlings of the renowned Italian bottler Samaroli.
