The Ardbeg Dark Cove Islay Single Malt Scotch whisky is the limited edition bottling for Ardbeg Day 2016, the highest holiday of all Ardbeg fans, and is slightly softer in flavour than the Committee bottling, which was also available from this Ardbeg Dark Cove. The Ardbeg Dark Cove finds its inspiration in Ardbeg's turbulent past: the secret meeting of Ardbeg single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks and dark sherry casks.
This Ardbeg Islay Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and selected dark sherry casks, the result is a powerful and complex Ardbeg with intense smoke and sherry sweetness, bottled at 46.5% vol. and is the darkest Ardbeg to date.
- Nose: Fleshy, earthy and spicy aromas, strong notes of bitter chocolate with some orange, candied toffee, coffee and oak as well as a touch of smoky camp fire and a lot of flaxseed oil
- Palate: almost herb or lime tray with hints of glowing charcoal and wood polish, notes of raisins, dates and ginger with a shadow of tar oil with smoked ham
- Finish: long, spicy and full-bodied with persistent notes of toffee, coffee and tar
