A very rare vintage 1979 15 year old Balvenie Single Barrel Highland Single Malt Whisky, distilled on 23 February 1979 and after more than 19 years of maturation in a traditional oak cask with cask no. 2436 was personally selected by Balvenie Malt Master David Stewart and bottled on 19 August 1999 in an edition of only 350 individually hand numbered bottles at 50.4% vol.
For the Balvenie Single Barrel series, only those casks from Balvenie s large warehouses are selected that have an exceptionally intense oak and fruit character. The resulting unique character reveals dried fruits and nuts and is complemented by a light oak flavour and subtle spicy notes with a long-lasting fruity finish. This single cask bottling from Balvenie emphasises and beautifully demonstrates the influence of the cask on the flavour of a whisky, each of which is unique in taste and strictly limited.
The special vintage 1979 15 years Balvenie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, which is actually over 19 years old, was bottled without the addition of dyes and the label was hand-lettered with the cask number, bottling date, in-cask date and individual bottle number. The limited annual bottlings from the Balvenie Single Barrel limited edition series are of exceptional quality, are usually sold out within a short time and the old bottlings from the 1970s and 1980s in particular are now regarded by connoisseurs and collectors as coveted collector s whiskies and are rarely found.
