A rare and high collectible old bottling of a Bowmore Legend no. 1 St. Ives limited edition Islay single malt scotch whisky and the 1st release from the year 1994 in an almost perfect collector s condition! This limited edition of the Bowmore Legend single malt was presented by Bowmore in the years 1994 to 2006 in a total of 13 issues with yearly changing motifs in relief print in a metal-tin on the market. On the elaborately designed and embossed metal tins, a legend of Islay Island was presented in English or Italian. The limited bottlings were available for the international and a version for the Italian market, which partly had a slightly deviant design and bottles with age indication (8 years) of the Bowmore Legend.
Today, almost all versions from the Bowmore Legend Limited Edition with the decorative tin are rarely found and are among the most sought-after old bottlings of Bowmore among whisky-collectors.
The Story of St. Ives:
Legend has it that in May 1813 during the Napoleonic wars, a young French soldier - St. Ives - was captured by his British enemies. Spered execution due his knowledge of the English language, St. Ives was selected for spezial employment and imprisoned in Edinburgh castle. During his imprisonment, St. Ives met and fell in love with a young visitor to the Castle, Flora Gilchrist. Following his escape from prison, he evaded recapture, ultimately making a daring escape from his captors by hot air ballon. The baalon was carried westward by the east winds, eventually crashing on Loch Indaal, upon whose shores stands Bowmore Distillery! St. Iveswas rescued from the icy waters by the True Blooded Yankee, a formidable American brig o war, that was holding Bowmore under siege. Later released to safety, St. Ives was to be re-united with his beloved Floria.
