The rare 2nd release of the 10 year old Bowmore The Devils Casks Small Batch Release II 1st fill Sherry Casks Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was bottled in an edition of 6,000 bottles with no added colouring or chill filtration at cask strength 56.3% vol. and was one of Bowmore's most highly anticipated bottlings of the year 2014. The exceptional Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, like the previous The Devils Casks small batch release, was matured in selected 1st fill sherry casks, has a deep mahogany colour and shines with deep, juicy sherry flavours mixed with sweet peat and an intense Bowmore character.
Just like in those days, the malt is still produced in the traditional way. The cool damp sea breezes, rich peat and pure water give the single malt whisky its unique quality and fine spicy complexity.
The legend says that the devil once sought out Bowmore's church. However, as it was built in a round shape, he could not find a corner to hide from the gloating congregation of Bowmore. So he was chased to the gates of the Bowmore distillery, but when the residents searched the distillery buildings, the Devil disappeared from the face of the earth. He is said to have managed to escape to the mainland via one of the casks that were being filled at the time.
