Bruichladdich 1972 30 Years Bourbon Cask No. 9 The Valinch to celebrate the reopening of the Bruichladdich Distillery Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Cask Strength 48.8% Vol. - one of only 250 bottles of a terrific Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt!
An extremely rare vintage 1972 30 year old Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled to celebrate the reopening of the Bruichladdich Distillery in the year 2002, which was completely renovated by Mark Reynier and his two Murray McDavid colleagues Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright. The terrific Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt was distilled in 1972, matured for 30 years in a bourbon cask with the cask no. 9 and was bottled without added colouring and chill filtration on 8th May 2002 as one of the first Valinch bottlings in an edition of only 250 individually hand-numbered bottles with the signature of Master Distiller Jim McEwan at cask strength 48.8% abv.
A valinch, possibly from a Spanish term, is the name applied to a large, copper pipette used to take cask samples from whisky barrels. The view is if you have made the effort to get to Islay then you deserve something just a little extra special. Valinchs are by definition only ever at cask strength, from a single barrel, and selected by Jim McEwan for individuality. Each Valinch released has it s own label and title, usually to commemorate a specific event or person.
This exceptional Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt from the year of the reopening of the distillery in 2002 is almost hard to find today, without question a very special rarity and among collectors and connoisseurs is one of the most sought-after and early expressions from the Bruichladdich Valinch range.
A great Islay Single Malt and a special piece of whisky history from the old cellar of the Bruichladdich distillery, which shows the art of Master Distiller Jim McEwan in a particularly expressive way - a special highlight for connoisseurs and collectors of exceptional Scotch Whiskies!
