A rare and exceptional vintage 2009 5 year old Bruichladdich Octomore 06.3 Super Heavily Peated Islay Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the 2014 Limited Octomore Edition. The Octomore 06.3 2009 limited edition Islay Single Malt was distilled in the year 2009 and is the first release of the experimental cult classical which was distilled with 100% Islay barley. The barley for this exceptional Octomore single malt was sown in 2008 by friend of the firm James Brown in the Lorgba field on his Octomore farm, which is situated close to the west shore of Loch Indaal on the Rhinns of Islay and within sight of the village of Port Charlotte.
After 5 years of maturation in American oak bourbon casks, the Octomore 06.3 Super Heavily Peated Islay Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky was bottled without added colourants and chill filtration on 21th November 2014 in an edition of 18,000 bottles at cask strength 64.0% abv and a fabulous 258 PPM.
This exceptionally peated Islay single malt is distilled by Bruichladdich in memory of the old Octomore distillery, which was located above Port Charlotte, and is now one of the whiskies with the highest phenolic content at 258 PPM.
