The very rare 1st release of the vintage 1989 19 year old Bruichladdich Black Art 1st limited edition release Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled in 2009 in a limited edition without added colouring and chill-filltration at cask strength 51.1% vol. The Bruichladdich Black Art 1989 1st Edition Single Malt was matured for more than 17 years in selected bourbon oak casks, then finished in selected French red wine casks and was bottled in a limited edition of 6,000 individually numbered bottles.
The successor to Blacker Still and prelude to Bruichladdich's legendary Black Art Edition series is a masterpiece that seduces the palate in a most provocative way with its deep red colour, incredible complexity, fruit and a seemingly endless finish.
Since the reopening of Bruichladdich by independent bottler Murray McDavid in 2000 - and especially under the leadership of Jim McEwan, the distillery and its whisky have been shining like never before. Jim McEwan - born on Islay and former master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in the production of Scotch whisky.
