The rare 4th release of the vintage 1990 23 year old Bruichladdich Black Art 04.1 limited edition release Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled in 2013 in a limited edition without added colouring and chill-filltration at cask strength 49.2% vol. The Black Art 04.1 Islay single malt was matured for 23 years in selected American oak and premium French red wine casks in warehouse 12 and the result is a fine, elegant, incredibly complex single malt that seduces the eye, the nose and the palate in a most provocative way with its maroon colour and indescribable aromas.
Since the reopening of Bruichladdich by independent bottler Murray McDavid in 2000 - and especially under the leadership of Jim McEwan, the distillery and its whisky have shone like never before. Jim McEwan - born on Islay and former master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in the production of Scotch whisky.
The Bruichladdich Black Art limited edition whiskies represent the black magic and the special art of master distiller Jim McEwan - the Black Art 04.1 Islay single malt is the last bottling under the direction of Jim McEwan from this famous and legendary series.
- Nose: Aromas of sweet grapes and heavier notes of honey, a touch of lemon and lime
- Palate: strong and warming with chocolate and coconut, sweet and fruity with pleasant soft oak notes, papaya and sweet malt with a trace of cinnamon and anise
