This rare vintage 1994 14 year old Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey was distilled on 12th July 1994 and matured for 14 years and 9 months in a fine grain oak barrel until it was bottled without added colouring on 7th May 2009 at 45.0% vol / 90 proof. It was stored in warehouse K on floor 3 and this over 14-year-old Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey impressively shows the influence of the trees with the wood used for the barrel, because fast-growing trees have coarser wood grains, while slow-growing trees produce finer wood. After more than 14 years of aging, the slow growth of fine-grained wood concentrated the sugars and flavours deep in the oak, giving this Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey an extra dose of caramel and vanilla. The bourbon is rich and sweet with an almost syrupy character and has a nice balance of flavours and complexity.
Only 1 barrel of this special dark amber-coloured bourbon whiskey was bottled as the 6th release of the Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection in the year 2009. Today, this Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey is one of the particularly rare rarities from the Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection and is almost hard to find.
For more than two decades, Buffalo Trace has been experimenting with recipes and different processes to explore the effects of whiskey maturation and taste. Currently, there are more than 4,000 experimental barrel whiskeys of different ages in the warehouses of Buffalo Trace. Each of the barrels has unique characteristics and experimental changes in the mash calculation, wood species, barrel toasts and more. The experimental whiskey is periodically bottled and is available in limited quantities as a small limited edition, and the label contains all the facts about this unique whiskey. Due to the small available quantity, they are filled in bottles with 375ML content. These special Bourbon whiskeys from Buffalo Trace of the Experimental Collection are only delivered to a few selected dealers in the USA, are almost unavailable in Europe and are one of the absolute rarities among bourbon lovers and connoisseurs even at the special auctions of Bonhams, Krüger or Christies.
