The tradition of independent bottling at Murray McDavid goes back 150 years and at that time was the only way to enjoy the high-quality single malts from the smaller distilleries. Murray McDavid, the whisky bottler with a special claim, was founded by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright, whose ancestors had been in the whisky business for generations. They are supported by Andrew Gray and Jim McEwan, master distillers at the Bruichladdich distillery. They offer whisky connoisseurs the opportunity to taste exceptional rarities. The offer ranges from unknown to the best-known distilleries of different ages and special wood finishes. Only the best casks from each distillery are selected and bottled without the addition of colourants and non-chill filtration. With their high standards and self-imposed obligation to maximise the quality and individuality of their whiskies, the independent bottlers today represent an important building block in the history of single malt whiskies and an enrichment of the market.
