A rare vintage 1998 21 year old 100% Trinidad rum from the closed distillery Caroni from the Italian bottler and rum specialist Velier for La Maison Du Whisky. This Caroni Full Proof Heavy Trinidad Rum matured for 21 years on the island of Trinidad and contains rum from 6 casks personally selected by Luca Gagarno and 26 other Caroni rum lovers after 8 tastings on 12th April 2019 and was dedicated in the Caroni Employees Special Edition 2nd Release to former employee Kevon Moreno, known as "Slippery", who worked at the Caroni distillery for 10 years.
With an angel's share of 85%, this is an incredibly dense, dry, deep Caroni Heavy Trinidad rum and the excellent local climate and good storage conditions ensure the enormously high quality of this extraordinary, intensely amber-coloured rum, which was bottled at cask strength 69.5% vol. in a limited edition of 1.400 bottles in the year 2019 without added sugar or colouring.
The vintage 1998 21 years Employees Special Edition 2nd Release Kevon "Slippery" Moreno Full Proof Heavy Trinidad Rum shows a mixture of tar, smoky notes, tropical fruits, mango and vanilla on the nose. The flavour has aromas of wood, leather, tar, rubber and sultanas. A robust Caroni Heavy Trinidad rum with an extreme profile and complexity that needs time to develop its full potential.
