A rare and fine vintage 2001 20 year old Diamond Demerara Savalle Column Still-Skeldon Full Proof Single Cask Traditional Guyana Rum from independent bottler Valinch and Mallet s well known The Spirit of Art Limited Single Cask Rum series. This fine and exclusive Diamond Full Proof Premium Single Cask Traditional Guyana Rum was distilled in 2001, matured for 20 years in a bourbon cask with the cask no. 78, before it was bottled in the year 2022 without added sugar or colouring in a limited edition of only 242 individually numbered bottles at full proof 50.7% vol.
The exceptional Diamond Demerara Full Proof Single Cask Traditional Guyana Rum was distilled using the Savalle Column Still distillation process, received a tropical aging for 3 years and a continental aging for another 17 years until its bottling in the year 2022 by Valinch and Mallet with a specially designed artist label by Mexican artist Oscar Isaias Contreras Rojas in a limited edition. Oscar Contreras Rojas was born in 1986 in Toluca, Mexico and lives and works between Florence and Venice. He graduated from the painting course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Italy, and then completed a Master s degree in Fine Arts at Middlesex University in London, United Kingdom. He was a finalist in the prestigious Premio Cairo 2019 - Milan and Premio Combat 2020.
The Diamond Estate was established around 1670 and is the only remaining rum distillery in Guyana. Located on the east bank of the Demerara River, the distillery is operated by Demerara Distillers Ltd (DDL), the company set up by the Guyana government to consolidate the country s rum production. This began in 1974 and culminated in the closure of Uitvlugt in 1999. Diamond blends its El Dorado brand using distillates from various combinations of its rum-producing stills, including two two-column English Coffey stills installed there in the 1950s and a rarely used high-proof John Dore pot still. These are operated alongside the heritage stills acquired by Uitvlugt, which are Uitvlugt s historic four-column French Savalle stills, the wooden Versailles and Port Mourant pot stills and Enmore s wooden Coffey Still, the oldest and last of its kind in the world. El Dorado was launched in 1992, but the distillery has continued its historic practice of supplying casks to independent bottlers, resulting in a wealth of impressive single cask bottlings like this one.
