This rare vintage 1983 23 years old Edradour Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled on 23th March 1983, matured for 19 years in a hogshead, then finished for 45 months in a fresh port pipe cask with cask no. 06/554 and was bottled on 14th August 2006 without added colouring or chill filtration in a limited edition of only 743 individually hand numbered bottles at natural cask strength 52.1% vol.
The 23 years Edradour Port Cask Finish Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes from a series of 9 single cask whiskies and was the first cask finish experiment which Andrew Symington started after he bought the distillery in 2002. In October 2002, 30 17-19 year old hogsheads were selected and the single malt was transferred to 9 fresh port casks for further maturation.
The whiskies from this limited and special port cask finish series are the only bottlings of Edradour from the year 1983 and show the original character of the distillery with their long maturation in the old plain hogsheads and the port cask finish.
