The first release of the Glenmorangie Astar Limited Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky from the year 2008 and the first edition from the Glenmorange PX Series in the rare 1.0 litre version for the retail market.. The Glenmorangie Astar Highland Single Malt by Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden was matured in special white oak casks from the Ozark Moutanins in Missouri, the first filling was done with Jack Daniels Tennessee Whisky, afterwards the casks were brought to Scotland and filled with new distillate at Glenmorangie.
Glenmorangie whiskies are particularly popular and have stood for noble whisky enjoyment for decades. In addition to Glenmorangie s select and almost ingenious cask policy and the most extravagant aromas that are extracted from the selected woods, it is above all the creaminess and mildness of almost all Glenmorangie single malts. A fact that is due, among other things, to the distillery s relatively high stills and the search for even more perfect distillates. This endeavour is also embodied in the Glenmorangie Astar Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. In Gaelic, the word means journey, and so each station of this journey has a direct influence on the taste and aroma of the noble Glenmorangie whisky.
It is characterised by its great balance and its rich and fruity aroma. According to the renowned whisky expert Jim Murray, the result could represent a new generation of single malt.

- Nose: Rich in toffee and crème-brulee, drizzled with fresh menthol, warm cinnamon and deep aniseed spices. Mint humbugs and a sweet honey-lemon complexity follows.
- Palate: Crème-brulee with a burst of mouth-watering pineapple, poached pears and apricots, smothered with vanilla custard.
- Finish: The finish is long and smooth with a lingering mix of honey and almond, coconut ice and traces of aniseed.
