Rare and selected Glenmorangie Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Glenmorangie Distillery is located in Tain in the Northern Highlands on the shores of Dornach Firth and is certainly one of the most famous distilleries in Scotland. Documents on (illegal) whisky distilling in Tain date back to the period around 1700, but only since 1843 a legal whisky is the Glenmorangie distillery founded by brothers Matheson fired. Previously, in the buildings of the distillery was a brewery to find. Already in 1880 the distillery has seen exports to Italy and the USA. 1883 had to be rebuilt the original distillery, 1887 was the Glenmorangie Distillery Co. Ltd. founded. With the success of Glenmorangie single malt whisky, the production had to be enlarged several times. 1980 two new stills were installed and in 1990 a further four, so that is produced today with a total of eight stills and is famous for being the distillery with the tallest stills. This makes it possible to produce a very light malt. Glenmorangie is the biggest selling single malt whisky in the Scottish market and is known for having special barrels (Margeaux, Cote De Beaune, port pipe, Madeira, Wine, etc.) to experiment and a second barrel aging and a number of exceptional single malts to produce. In 2004 Glenmorangie PLC took over the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, with more than 27,000 members. Since October 2004, the company belongs to the group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), which took over the share of the McDonald family. After 161 years, the family moved back from the whisky business. Today belongs to Glenmorangie PLC besides the actual distillery in Tain still distillery Ardbeg (acquired 1997) on Islay. A principle of the distillery has remained until today: There should always be exactly 16 employees at Glenmorangie, the 16 Men of Tain. This refers in recent times, however, only to the actual manufacturer in the combustion process, in total are at the distillery about 90 people are employed, for example, warehouse, loading and administration. The Glenmorangie single malts are today one of the world s leader and whiskys from the limited Private Edition and old single cask bottlings from the 70s and 80s are highly sought after.
