The American oak casks used in the production of the 10 years Laphroaig Cask Strength Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky are lightly fired before filling to impart the slightly sweet vanilla-nuttiness of the oak. The Islay single malt is then matured in Laphroaig s warehouses for a period of 10 years before being bottled at cask strength (straight from the wood).
