The great Macallan Highland Siingle Malt Scotch whisky was matured for 12 years in hand-selected sherry oak casks from Jerez and was an integral part of the Macallan range for many years alongside the world-famous 18 years Macallan Sherry Oak Single Malt. In the last few years, however, it was only available in a few markets or could only rarely be found and was not officially distributed in Germany - in the meantime, Macallan has reintroduced the 12 years sherry oak in a new design, but the used seasoned sherry casks were only allowed to be stored in Jerez for up to 18 months.
