With the Macallan 1841 Replica Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky, Macallan whisky maker Bob Dalgarno has recreated the taste and design of one of the oldest surviving Scotch whiskies from 1841 after sampling the old whisky to create this limited edition replica whisky. With great effort and passionate commitment, Bob Dalgarno and a team of experts examined samples from a good 1,500 casks and tested over 40 compositions before all the necessary criteria set by the original were met and created a replica of the Macallan 1841 from 43 sherry butts with an age of 10-14 years.
The master glazier Stolzle Flaconnage from Yorkshire was commissioned to produce a replica of the original bottle, and they produced an almost identical copy in painstaking detail. Even air bubbles, thickenings and irregularities in the glass, as can be explained by the early phase of glass production, were taken into account. The sealing of the bottle by hand and the faithful copy of the label rounded off the passionate detail work, so that each of the 27402 bottles from this 3rd edition of the limited Replica Edition is unique and Alexander Reid would certainly have been proud that his work receives so much attention and approval today.
Whatever the provenance of the bottles that were replicated - in any case, a special piece of whisky history and exclusive Macallan Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky, which was awarded 95 points by Michael Jackson for its exceptional quality.
