With the Macallan 1876 Replica Highland single malt scotch whisky, Macallan whisky maker Bob Dalgarno has taken the taste and design of an old Macallan scotch whisky from the year 1876, kept safely guarded on the distillery premises, and after sampling the old whisky and carefully selecting a variety of different casks, created this limited edition replica whisky. The bottle and label have been modelled on the original whisky from 1876 down to the last detail - the colour, irregularities and structure of the antique glass as well as the label of James Stuart and Co, the owner of Macallan at the time, are almost identical to the original.
The 4th edition from 2003 of the limited Macallan Replica series has been sealed by hand like in the old days and comes in a red velvet-lined packaging as well as an additional cork to be able to reseal the special Macallan single malt after opening. A small booklet with information on the creation of the Macallan Replica 1876 single malt scotch whisky, rules of etiquette from the time of the original and a foreword by whisky author and critic Charles MacLean is also included.
The Macallan 1876 Replica is an unusually round, yet complex Highland single malt scotch whisky with a particularly decorative and elaborately designed bottle and was bottled in a limited edition of 19,800 bottles.
