An extremely rare and stunning vintage 1964 18 years-old Macallan Sherry Wood Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled in the year 1982 as the second edition of the Special Selection for the German importer Pro Nobilitate Ebert, Hainzl and Co. in Hamburg with the old screw cap as a 75cl bottling and today without question one of the particularly rare original sherry wood bottlings from Macallan-Glenlivet Ltd. from the early 1960s. In the Macallan Special Selection edition, selected 17-18 year old single malts matured in sherry casks were bottled with and without bottling dates from 1981 to 1984.
This special old style Macallan Highland Single Malt was bottled at 43.0% abv without the addition of dyes and chill filtration and is part of the series that gave Macallan its almost legendary reputation: the pure sherry cask bottlings. Today, the 18-year-old Sherry-Wood Macallan single malt is one of the most famous and sought-after whiskies, enjoys a legendary reputation because of its excellent quality and can certainly be described as an icon among Scotch whiskies.
