The fine Macallan Edition No.5 Laurie Pressman Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky is the fifth in a series of annual limited releases and another Macallan limited edition bottling from year 2019 and the result of the successful collaboration between Sarah Burgess, Macallan s Master Whisky Maker and Vice President Laurie Pressman of the Pantone Colour Institute.
The fifth bottling in the Macallan Edition series, which focuses on the importance of cask selection, is a blend of four different cask types and sizes, which are perfectly presented here. The exquisite oak casks come from the bodegas Hudosa, Tevasa and Vasyma as well as 1st and 2nd refill American oak butts, 1st fill American oak bourbon barrels and were selected and combined by The Macallan s Master Whisky Maker Sarah Burgess and Laurie Pressman. The distinctive character and dynamic of The Macallan Edition No. 5 Laura Pressman Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky has been shaped not only by the 4 exceptional oak cask types from three different Spanish bodegas, but also by the creative influence of Sarah Burgess and Laurie Pressman, who combined different flavours and colours to bring their own personality to the whisky.

Every colour - from the lightest oak to the deepest mahogany - across The Macallan s portfolio is created naturally through the whisky s interaction with the oak casks in which it matures. This process is carefully managed by our highly skilled whisky team, who select different casks to shape both the flavour and colour of each expression. To celebrate the remarkable range of natural colours in our whiskies, Macallan has worked with the Pantone Color Institute. After learning the intricacies of the whisky making process from oak to glass, the famous colour consultancy with Laurie Pressman was inspired by the many hues that combine to create the rich colour of this single malt. Such complexity could only be expressed through an equally multifaceted colour. The result is a unique and vibrant shade of violet developed by Pantone exclusively for Macallan Edition No.5, reflecting the infinite shades and mastery with which The Macallan s natural colour is produced.

The casks were selected for their colour to create a whisky with a wonderfully full flavour.
