This vintage 1998 17 year old Mortlach Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky comes from hogsheads personally selected by Kirsch Whisky at Signatory Vintage and finished in an Oloroso Sherry Butt with Cask No. 4 and was bottled exclusively in an edition of 814 bottles for the summer of 2015 without the addition of colourants and chill-filtration at cask strength with 47.4% vol. as part of the Single Cask Seasons Edition, which is now well-known among connoisseurs and collectors.
After distillation, the distillate spent over 12 years slowly maturing in selected hogsheads and then received a finish in an Oloroso sherry butt for a further 55 months before it was finally bottled. The result is a Mortlach Speyside single malt with a dark copper colour, the aromas are intense and well balanced with notes of wood, sherry, orange, aniseed, caramel and liquorice. On the palate, it is sweet and fruity with pleasant sherry flavours in combination with vanilla, chocolate, nuts and spices. The finish is long and fruity.
