This exceptional and outstanding No Age Declared Very Limited Edition Cuvee 2016 Pure Mal Blended Scotch whisky was bottled a year before Silvano Samaroli s death in the year 2016 without the addition of colourants and chill-filtration at 43.0% vol. and marketed 2017 by Moon Import after corrections to the labels and sanding of the base of the bottle. It is presented in an exclusive bottle, a faithful replica of a nineteenth-century whisky bottle in a distinctive wooden box.
After handing over the management of the Samaroli company to Antonio Bleve in 2008, the heirs, following in the footsteps of the great Silvano, began bottling selected casks under the Masam brand. Masam is an independent bottling company under the management of Maryse Accorsi Samaroli, the wife of the legendary Silvano Samaroli. The Samaroli company has been managed by Antonio Bleve since 2008, but barrels from Silvano s private collection have also been bottled under the Silvano s Collection banner. These were initially looked after by Silvano himself, but since his death in 2017, this tradition has been lovingly continued by his wife.
The death of Silvano Samaroli in 2017 and the resulting disagreements and problems between Bleve, Maryse and Moon Import for the management of the Samaroli brand had led to necessary corrections to the bottles.
Limited to 1248 bottles, the No Age Declared Very Limited Edition Cuvee 2016 (Masam) Pure Malt Blended Scotch whisky is an exclusive and unique vatting of malt whiskies matured between 12 and over 49 years in special sherry barrels and oak casks, made solely by Scotland s last artisan distilleries, which still use the same processes as a hundred years ago.
The No Age Declared Very Limited Edition Cuvee 2016 Pure Malt Blended Scotch whisky is the only malt whisky for which the reduction of original alcohol lasts as long as twelve months, as was a common practice in the nineteenth century. The whisky does not receive the violent shock of being diluted with water in a single addition before bottling. In the case of the No Age Declared Very Limited Edition Cuvee 2016 (Masam) Pure Malt Blended Scotch whisky, the batches were re-blended every two or three months, with only a small amount of water added to allow it to be easily absorbed by the various substances responsible for flavour and aroma. This old technique has been abandoned by all producers as the costs are too high.
