The Samaroli No Age Limited Edition 2002 Blended Whisky is a premium blended pure malt Scotch whisky of 12 and up to 45 year old Scotch whisky, matured in special sherry casks and other casks personally selected by Silvano Samaroli and sourced from Scotland's last traditional distilleries. The youngest whisky is from 1990 and the oldest from the year 1957 - an exceptional pure blended malt with a light and very fine smoky note, which was bottled in the year 2002 in individually numbered bottles without chill filtration at 46.0% vol. in a limited edition of 1980 bottles as the 5th release. The bottles used are reproductions of old whisky bottles from around 1880-1914, which were traditionally fitted with a cork stopper as in earlier times.
Among connoisseurs, the old Samaroli No Age Cuvees from 1992-2002 in particular are regarded as outstanding and, like almost all old Samaroli bottlings, are rarely found today.
Moon Import is well known among connoisseurs of fine whiskies and rum and is an old Italian wine trading company with a long tradition, which has also been releasing original bottlings of well-known whisky distilleries under its own, often very artistically designed labels in small editions for many years. In particular, the old bottlings from the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s from the large and well-known distilleries as well as the smaller and partially closed distilleries such as Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Macallan, Tobermory, Glendronach, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Convalmore, Strathisla, Dalmore, Lagavulin, Linkwood, Springbank, Port Ellen and many more are now sought-after collector's items, fetching considerable prices at special auctions organised by Kruger, Bonhams or Christies, and are rarely found. In 2007, Moon Import also took over the world-famous Samaroli company and the current bottlings now bear this name.
