The famed Sazerac Coffee House was founded in 1850 on Exchange Alley in New Orleans, Louisiana and soon gained fame as the home of America s First Cocktail known as the Sazerac. Using rye whiskey in place of the French brandy, a dash of Peychaud Bitters, and Herbsaint, what eventually became the official cocktail of New Orleans was created. This straight rye has a mellow spice and dry sweetness that dances on the tongue, giving pure delight that is worthy of the Sazerac name.
This is the annual special release of straight Rye whiskey from the legendary Buffalo Trace distillery. Very mature, with notes of oak, leather molasses and all-spice, this is a must for Rye fans. Changes a little from batch to batch but always stunning. The rare 2002 release of the Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection was filled at 135 proof in white oak barrels for maturation and, after years of aging in the warehouse, was bottled in a limited edition without the addition of colourants at 45.0% vol. The glass bottle chosen for the 18 years Sazerac is designed to showcase the whiskeys dark and rich color. The back label provides a full product story and describtion. Every case has been hand bottled and labeled to ensure the highest quality finish. This is an amazing, truly unique rye whiskey. There is no rye whiskey on the market that is as old or perfectly balanced as this one. For all who can t get enough flavors and intensity in your whiskey, your search has ended. This annual award-winning rye whiskey has a rich and spicy nose with notes of toasted rye bread, molasses, cinnamon, and a touch of smoke.
