The rare vintage 2006 11 year old Springbank Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky and the 2017 release is another bottling from the limited Springbank Local Barley series and a true Campbeltown whisky. This Springbank Campbeltonw single malt has been distilled from barley grown on the Kintyre Peninsula within a few miles of Springbank. The barley is then malted on their own malt floors using traditional production techniques before it is turned into spirit, matured into whisky and bottled on-site, making this a 100% Campbeltown Single Malt. The 11 years Springbank Local Barley Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch was distilled in February 2006, then matured for 11 years in American oak bourbon casks before being bottled in February 2017 in an edition of 9,000 bottles with no added colouring and no chill filtration at cask strength 53.1% vol.
The special Springbank Local Barley Single Malt Scotch whiskies are of exceptional quality, are usually sold out within a short time and are among the most sought-after bottlings from Springbank among connoisseurs and whisky collectors.
- Nose: marmelade and honey, then mineral notes from the Kintyre peninsula. Freshly baked bread with sweet notes of sun dried bananas to contrast with the salted caramel topping
- Palate: the promise given in the nose delivers, a lovely creaminess and sweetness of grapes, custard, honeycomb and marshmallow
- Finish: there's a nutty quality about this, almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts as wellness an air of indulgence, rich and buttery with an elegant finish that keeps on giving
