A rare vintage 1974 25 year old Springbank Campbeltown single malt scotch whisky, bottled exclusively as a limited special single cask bottling after 25 years of maturation to commemorate Distillery Manager Frank McHardy's 40 years in distilling, presumably bottled in the year 1999 without added colouring or chill filtration in an edition of only 610 individually hand numbered bottles at 46.0% abv.
Born in St Andrews in 1945, Frank McHardy began his career in the whisky industry at Invergordon Distillers, which took him to Tamnavulin, Bruichladdich and Bushmills, and worked at Springbank in the late 1970s. He returned to Springbank in 1996, oversaw the complete re-building of Mitchell's Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown and is Director of Production for Springbank and Head of the Springbank Whisky School. Frank McHardy is without question an icon of whisky today and was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Whisky Magazine in 2014 - the great reputation of the Springbank distillery and its products is due to him.
Each bottle of this terrific and special Springbank Campbeltown single malt scotch whisky received a special label with an illustration of the distillery as well as the portrait of Frank McHardy and bears the individual bottle number as well signed by the great man himself on the back label.
