A rare and terrific vintage 2000 21 year old Springbank Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky which was distilled in March 2000 and, after 21 years of maturation in a fresh sherry cask with cask no. 76/2000, bottled by Springbank in May 2021 as a limited edition private bottling without added colouring or chill filtration at cask strength 45.0% vol.
Matured for 21 years in a fresh sherry cask, this great Springbank Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky impressively shows the special Springbank character and shines with wonderful notes of sherry, smoke and woody notes with a very long and intense finish.
The so-called private bottling formerly used by some distilleries to refinance, the freshly bottled whisky in one or more barrels were sold through the intermediary of a whisky trader or broker has to his birth and was then allowed to mature in the duty-free warehouse of the distillery. The buyer got the property documents in the acquired and numbered barrels and could be sent to a sample year on request and usually at an additional cost, many distilleries also the visit of acquired barrel was possible and the buyer could decide when and how (if at cask strength or diluted) of whisky is bottled.
