The rare and highly sought after vintage 2009 9 year old Springbank Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky and limited release 2018 is another bottling from the limited edition Springbank Local Barley series and is a true Campbeltown whisky. One hundred percent of the Optic barley used for this whisky comes from High Cattadale farm on the Kintyre Peninsula and is grown in the surrounding area and processed at the distillery. The 9 years Springbank Local Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky was distilled in July 2009, then matured for over 9 years in 80% American oak bourbon casks and 20% sherry casks before being bottled in October 2018 in a limited edition of 9.700 bottles without added colouring or chill filtration at cask strength 57.7% vol.
The special Springbank Local Barley Single Malt Scotch whiskies are of exceptional quality, are usually sold out within a short time and are among the most sought-after bottlings from Springbank among connoisseurs and whisky collectors.
- Nose: Traditional Springbank aromas; saltiness, sea shells and fresh oysters bursting through. Followed just as intensely by pepper-jack cheese, honeycomb and vanilla pods
- Palate: Whipped cream, pear drops and a heathery note are quickly engulfed by barley water, sherbet mix, sugar cane, nectarines and dandelions.
- Finish: A gentle dry peat circulates before squashed plums, raisins, cracked pepper and dry straw emerge
