A rare vintage 1996 21 year old Caroni Extra Strong 100% Imperial Proof Trinidad rum from the closed Caroni distillery by the Italian bottler and renowned rum specialist Velier. This 21 years Caroni 100° Imperial Proof Extra Strong Rum was distilled in February 1996 and matured for a good 21 years on the island of Trinidad until 22th February 2017. With an angel s share of 86%, this is an incredibly dense, dry, deep Caroni Trinidad rum and the excellent local climate and good maturation conditions ensure the extremely high quality of this extraordinary heavy Trinidad rum, which was bottled without added sugar or colouring at 57.18% vol. in a limited edition in France in April 2017.
The 21 years Velier Caroni Extra Strong 100° Imperial Proof Heavy Trinidad Rum shows tar, rubber, leather, smoke, tropical fruits and marzipan on the nose, the flavour is intense and complex with leather, tar, dried fruits, eucalyptus, oak and sultanas with a strong and long finish - an impressive Trinidad Rum with the complex and typical Caroni character!
The bottle label is a reproduction of an original bottling from 1940 to commemorate the golden age of Caroni Trinidad rum - an almost epic and genuine piece of rum history and now, like all Caroni bottlings from Velier, rarely found today.
