Wild Turkey is an Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Austin Nichols produced in the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The brand has existed since 1941 and belongs since 2009 to Davide Campari-Milano. 1869 Ripy Distillery was founded on the now known as Wild Turkey Hill above a gorge of the Kentucky River in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The distillery was founded in 1919 temporarily closed because of Prohibition in 1933 it was finally opened and modernized again. 1940, Thomas McCarthy, one of the managers of Ripy Distillery, Whiskey own company to hunt wild turkeys. His friends tasted the whiskey so much that they asked him the following year, again bring some of the Wild Turkey Whiskey for turkey hunting, then the colloquial name became a brand name. The Wild Turkey Bourbon whiskeys have been awarded for their excellent quality and especially the old bottlings are found highly sought after and rarely by connoisseurs and collectors.
