The exquisite Suntory Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 Limited Edition Japan Single Malt is the 6th release and to date the last bottling in Yamazaki s world-famous Sherry Cask series, which was bottled in 2016 in a limited edition without the addition of colourants and chill-filtration at 48.0% vol.
The Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 Japan Single Malt Whisky is made from only the finest and most original ingredients, making it a very special experience for the taste buds. Ingredients that are transformed into a wonderfully harmonious single malt during the skilful distillation process. Its soft water comes from the springs of the River Hakushu and the wood in which it matures was previously home to fine Spanish Olosoro sherry. The two-year longer maturation period in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks compared to the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 release gives the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 Limited Edition an intense and warm flavour with aromas of sweet sultanas and cocoa followed by notes of spicy, dried tomatoes for a balanced and complex taste experience.
With the nomination of the Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 Japan Single Malt as Whisky of the Year in Jim Murray s Whisky Bible 2015, the unique flight of malts from the Land of the Rising Sun began. The magnificent Yamazaki Sherry Cask single malt whisky was matured in selected Oloroso sherry casks aged between 12 and 25 years and was created by Shinji Fukuyo and his team at the Yamazaki distillery from over 100 different malt whiskies and bottled in a limited edition of 5000 bottles in the year 2016.
